Postbank named Best Retail Bank in Bulgaria for second consecutive year

Postbank has been named the Best Retail Bank in Bulgaria for a second consecutive year in the prestigious World Finance Banking Awards 2019, organized by World Finance Magazine, a leading print and online magazine providing comprehensive coverage of the financial industry, international business and the global economy.

The magazine recognized Postbank for its innovative and sustainable retail banking model, its state-of-the-art products and services, its extensive branch network across the country, its alternative communication channels and the numerous opportunities to consult one of the many professionals in the bank.

Back in 2018, Postbank achieved excellent results in all of the sectors it operates in, closing an exceptionally successful year. The increase in the sale of housing and consumer loans stood at about 40%, as the bank’s portfolio with individual and household borrowing went up by BGN 212 million. The lender also boasted a record-breaking annual hike in the sale of credit cards of over 30%, reporting in addition an increase in the frequency of their usage. Credit card holders receive a high added value with the My Rewards program, which distributed nearly BGN 2 million in the form of monetary awards and exclusive access to additional offers and partnerships.

The tendency of digital channels being the preferred way to make everyday bank operations still prevails. An increasing number of customers use their smartphones for mobile banking. The number of users of m-Postbank went up by 74%, as transactions saw an annual uptick of 105%.

2019 also saw the start of a general change in the concept of Postbank’s branch network. The offices became more “digitalized” to offer even better user experience and modern services.

Among the more remarkable innovative services for consumers are the first bank credit chat bot in Bulgaria, EVA, which provides advice to customers on Facebook Messenger 24/7, the option to have a debit card issued in a matter of minutes, the additional discounts and monetary bonuses with the salary account (Супер сметк@), the direct Western Union transactions to the bank’s ATMs, the mobile bank experts who can consult customers after an appointment made in advance and many more.

Postbank is member of the regional Eurobank Group, where the main shareholders are Canadian and US funds. Since 2010, the Group has won numerous awards in the Best Private Banking category and the Best Retail Banking category of World Finance Magazine. Banks in the Group are among the most frequently awarded lenders in various categories of this year’s awards.
