Contactless payments with debit and credit cards
All Mastercard and Visa cards offered by Postbank feature contactless functionality, enabling secure and convenient payments:
- from anywhere in the world;
- at any POS terminal/card reader displaying the contactless payment symbol.
Using the contactless feature is simple: just hold your card close to the terminal, and for all payments up to EUR 51.13, the transaction is completed without entering a PIN code.
In line with the rules introduced to ensure a high level of security for card payments, related to the implementation of the PSD2 European Payment Services Directive, additional requirements have been introduced:
1. For every 6th contactless payment of up to EUR 51.13, you are required to enter your PIN code in order for the transaction to be completed.
The POS terminal may display a message prompting you to enter your PIN, or it may indicate that the transaction has been declined. In some cases, no message may be displayed. In such situations, you can complete the transaction by inserting or tapping your card and entering your card’s PIN.
2. Once the cumulative value of your contactless payments reaches EUR 153.39, you will be required to enter your PIN code again in order to make a payment.
In both cases, once you enter your PIN code, you will be able to make another five consecutive contactless payments, each up to EUR 51.13, or contactless payments with a cumulative limit of EUR 153.39.
