Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Postbank
Ms. Petya Dimitrova is the Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Management Board of Postbank (legally known as “Eurobank Bulgaria” AD). Her career at Postbank began in 2003 as Chief Financial Officer of the eight subsidiaries of “Eurobank EFG Group” in Bulgaria. In 2005, she also assumed the position of authorized signatory at Postbank. In 2007, she was appointed Executive Director and member of the Management Board of DZI Bank. Following the legal merger of DZI Bank and Post Bank, she became Executive Director and member of the Management Board of the merged bank. In 2012, Ms. Dimitrova became Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Board of Directors of Postbank.
Mrs. Petya Dimitrova is the Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Management Board of Postbank (legally known as “Eurobank Bulgaria” AD). In 2005, she also assumed the position of authorized signatory at Postbank. In 2007, she was appointed Executive Director and member of the Management Board of DZI Bank. Following the legal merger of DZI Bank and Postbank, she became Executive Director and member of the Management Board of the merged bank. In 2012, Mrs. Dimitrova became Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Board of Directors of Postbank.
Under her leadership, Postbank completed three successful transactions in just a few years, acquiring and integrating—in record time - first Alpha Bank’s Bulgarian branch and then Piraeus Bank Bulgaria. In 2023, Postbank successfully completed the acquisition of the business and operations of “BNP Paribas Personal Finance,” the Bulgarian branch of BNP Paribas Personal Finance S.A., France. The branch’s operations were transferred to the Postbank family and continue to operate on the Bulgarian market under the PB Personal Finance brand. These transactions represent further steps toward consolidating its position as a systemically important bank for the market and expanding its customer base.
Mrs. Dimitrova began her career in 1996 in the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy. She then worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers from 1998 to 2003 as a senior manager and senior auditor.
Mrs. Petya Dimitrova is a Chartered Accountant certified by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in London; she holds an EMBA from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, and two master’s degrees in “Finance and Banking” and “Tourism” from the University of National and World Economy and Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.” He also holds diplomas from a management skills development program at ALBA Business School for Postgraduate Studies, Harvard; a certificate in management skills from Georgetown University, Washington; a diploma in “Management and Social Development of NGOs” from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Macedonia, Greece. She also holds certificates of completion for the “Harvard Business School” programs in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2024, as well as a certificate from the Said Business School, University of Oxford in 2015 and 2022. Mrs. Dimitrova has obtained professional qualifications in the United Kingdom, Greece, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United States, and Bulgaria, and has participated in various prestigious international training programs, seminars, and conferences.
Mrs. Dimitrova is Chair of the Board of Directors of the Association of Banks in Bulgaria. She is Chair of the Board of Directors of the Burov Foundation and a member of the Board of Directors of Endeavor Bulgaria. She is vice president of the Canadian-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Executive Board of KRIB, a member of the University Council of the American University in Bulgaria, a member of the Board of Directors of Borika AD, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Greek Business Council in Bulgaria. Petya Dimitrova is a member of the Industry Advisory Board for CITY College at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. She is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO); a member of the Young Global Leaders Forum of the World Economic Forum; a member of the Gerson Lehrman Group Accounting Council in London; a member of the Chartered Management Institute in the United Kingdom; and a co-founder of the Public Council of Women in Business.
Mrs. Dimitrova has received numerous awards, including the prestigious “Mrs. Economy” award in the “Mr. and Mrs. Economy” competition organized by KRIB and *Economy* magazine (2015, 2018, and 2025), the special “Banker of the Year” awards from “Banker” newspaper in 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2024; the Atanas Burov Foundation Prize for Banking and Financial Management (2017); winner of the “Woman of the Year” award in the “Business” category from “Gracia” magazine (2014); Recipient of two silver awards at the Stevie Awards for Women in Business—“CEO of the Year for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa” and “CEO of the Year in the Services Sector for Organizations with Up to 2,500 Employees” (2013); the “Young Global Leader” award from the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders Forum (2012); an award for an outstanding alumnus of the International Faculty at the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom (2011); “Businesswoman of the Year” (2010); the grand prize in the annual “Next Generation” competition for young managers organized by *Capital* newspaper (2009), and others.
Under her leadership, Postbank has won nearly 100 prestigious international and Bulgarian awards, including a gold award in the category for excellence in customer-centricity or customer experience in banking at one of the most prestigious European competitions in the banking sector—The Retail Banking: Europe 2019 Awards; the “Best Retail Bank in Bulgaria” award for 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024; “Best Digital Bank” for 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024; and “Best Mobile Banking App” for 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 by the London-based publication World Finance Magazine; the “Bank of the Year” award for 2021; and a prize in the “Dynamic Development” category at the Annual Banking Awards of the “Bank of the Year Association.” Postbank has also been recognized as a “Top Employer” in Bulgaria with a certificate from the international independent Top Employers Institute. The distinction recognizes its innovative vision and high standards in implementing globally recognized employer practices in human resources management, employee welfare, working conditions, and programs for the personal and professional development of employees, among other areas.
In 2021, for the tenth time, *Global Custodian*, the prestigious international publication covering capital markets, asset management, and investment activities, named Post Bank the best custodian bank in Bulgaria. Also in 2021, Postbank was honored for the seventh time with a prestigious award from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development - the “Most Active Bank in Bulgaria in Trade Finance for 2020” award.
Among the awards won are also those for Best Employer, numerous awards for Best CSR Projects, and many others.
