Angel Mateev is an Executive Director in charge of Retail Banking. He started his professional career in 1999 as a loan officer small and medium-sized enterprises in Evrobank, subsequently progressing his career path being promoted as a branch manager (2002/03) and regional manager (2003/04) in ProCredit Bank. Mr. Mateev joined Postbank in Y2004, occupying the position of Manager Small Business Development (2004/05) and promoted to Head of Small Business Division (2005/15). His successful managerial role continued with next level promotions to Deputy Head of Retail (2015/19) and General Manager Retail Banking (2019/24). From June 2024 Mr. Mateev is occupying the position Executive Director Retail Banking and Member of the Management Board of Postbank.

Mr. Mateev holds Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (1996/2001) and Master’s degree in Macroeconomics (2011/12) from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. He has successfully completed INSEAD institute’s Program Leading Digital Transformation and Innovation (2023) in San Francisco, USA.

Angel Mateev is a senior executive with more than 25 years of experience in the banking industry. His career development and managerial roles are entirely related to the Retail banking field, focused on strategic development, innovations and market share growth. He has an In-depth knowledge and expertise in Mergers & Acquisitions and post-merger management. Played a key role in acquiring and integration of three banks (Alfa Bank - Bulgaria Branch, Piraeus Bank Bulgaria and BNP Paribas Personal Finance Bulgaria), ensuring smooth transition and business take over.

Under Mr. Mateev’s governance of Retail Banking, Postbank was awarded with numerous prestigious awards and recognitions – Best Retail Bank in Bulgaria (4 consecutive years -2019/22), honored by World Finance Magazine, Best Consumer Digital Bank (2021) honored by World Finance Magazine, Excellence in Customer Centricity in The Retail Banking – Europe 2019 Awards.
